Gu Qian

Personal Introduction

Gu Qian is a professor and doctoral supervisor in the School of Liberal Arts at Nanjing University, and the director of the Institute of Dialects and Culture Studies at Nanjing University. He is a Changjiang Scholar appointed by the Ministry of Education and the chief expert of the major bidding project of the National Social Science Fund. He mainly engages in the study of Chinese dialectology and dialect geography, and is the chief editor of Studies on Jiangsu Dialects. He has published monographs such as Studies on Tongzhou-Taizhou Dialect Phonology and Research on the Common Sound Systems of Chinese Dialects, and has published dozens of papers in journals such as Studies of the Chinese Language, Dialect, and Language and Linguistics Monograph Series. He has won the “Lv Shuxiang Linguistics Award” of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the first prize of Jiangsu Provincial Social Science Achievement Award.
